Beauty for Ashes is a DC-area nonprofit dedicated to bringing the arts to children and teens in foster care. The founder, Dr. Jessica Pavlick, came to ELM Communications with the goal of establishing her online presence as the nonprofit continued to reach out to partners and local media.

At the time, Beauty for Ashes had no online presence, other than an Instagram page with limited posts. Though the budget was limited, we were able to work with Dr. Pavlick to build out a brand and a dedicated website where she could showcase Beauty for Ashes' partners and community projects.

The concept for the brand was based on Dr. Pavlik's own artwork of a phoenix rising towards the sun. We wanted to capture the bold colors associated with a phoenix rising from the ashes and embodied Dr. Pavlik's original painting through intense color swatches to mimic her own paint strokes. The final design relies on high contrast with dark backgrounds to invoke the non-profit's name, Beauty for Ashes.
